No Big Guys Policy

How we handle rights, licensing and the temptation to sell out.

1. You own your masters. Full stop.

DaveGPT Records never takes ownership of your recordings, compositions or publishing. Rights stay with the artist from day one and cannot be transferred to us by default — including if the label is ever sold, merged or acquired.

2. 85/15 split, transparent on every checkout

Our default commission on sales is a flat 15% — roughly half of a standard indie label's cut. You keep 85%. Every checkout page shows the split before payment so listeners see exactly where their money goes.

Bundles, charity releases and promo drops can run at a lower commission (as low as 0%) on a per-release basis. We'll never quietly raise your rate.

3. Licensing — opt-in, revocable, non-exclusive

To distribute, stream or sell your music we take a non-exclusive, revocable licence limited to the platforms and formats you approve. If you want a track pulled, we pull it. No 5-year lock-ins, no ownership assignment, no "in perpetuity" clauses.

Sync placements (film, TV, ads, games) are always artist-approved on a per-placement basis. We do not pre-clear your catalogue to third parties.

4. No big guys — the anti-sellout clause

DaveGPT Records will not sell your rights, catalogue, data or contact details to a major label, private-equity roll-up, ad network or AI training company. If we're ever approached with a majors-style acquisition offer, artists get first refusal and can walk with their full rights intact.

We keep our halo low. Independent, artist-first, forever.

5. Data and privacy

We only collect the data needed to pay you, ship merch and process purchases. Listener emails are used for order confirmations and your own release newsletters — never sold, never handed to third-party ad networks.

6. Termination

Either side can end the arrangement with 30 days' notice. On exit: your masters go with you, your public release pages can be redirected to your own site, and unpaid earnings are settled within one payout cycle.

// This is a plain-English summary. A full artist agreement is issued on signup — it says the same thing in legal words.
